CUCKOO LAUNCHED THE CUCKOO CREATIVE ARTS FOUNDATION (CCAF) IN HOPES OF DISCOVERING HOMEGROWN TALENTS
The CUCKOO Creative Arts Foundation (CCAF) was officially launched at Now Theatre, Kuala Lumpur.

KUALA LUMPUR, 6 MAY 2019 – CUCKOO Malaysia has launched a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Foundation that is envisioned to be a platform for homegrown talents. CUCKOO believes that the art industry in Malaysia is filled with potential to flourish but it lacks the proper resources. As such, the CCAF was created to bridge the gap for artists nationwide in order for them to make their mark in the art world.
The foundation was launched at Now Theatre, Kuala Lumpur where a committee of experts that includes CUCKOO Friend, Aanantha, Managing Director of Super Fun Entertainment PLT , Guan Qi Yuan, writer and poet, Zhuo Ruo Peng and CUCKOO’s representatives Marketing Director, Queenie Goh and Assistant Marketing Manager, Steven Tan officiated the event together with CUCKOO CEO, Hoe Kian Choon and members of the top management. At the launch, Aanantha introduced the foundation’s intention of developing the local art industry through 5 art initiatives:
1. Films
2. Literatures
3. Art, Craft and Interior Designs
4. Art and Creative Performances
5. School Activities
Individuals, companies or organisations and educational institutions are qualified to apply for the sponsorship opportunity that is divided into two submission periods for the second half of 2019: Q3 submission period (7 May – 16 June 2019) and Q4 submission period (1 July – 8 September 2019).
Following a list of requirements, each application will be evaluated by a committee of experts; CUCKOO Friends, Nabil Ahmad and Aanantha, Guan Qi Yuan and Zhuo Ruo Peng along with Queenie Goh and Steven Tan. The announcement of shortlisted art projects that are granted with the exclusive sponsorship will be made on 1 July 2019 (for Q3 submissions) and 1 October (for Q4 submissions).
With the purpose to develop the local art industry, the CCAF is visualised to be a platform to discover and amplify homegrown talents. At the event, Queenie Goh explained that “CUCKOO would like to highlight the importance of the thriving art scene in Malaysia. We hope to recognise these talents through this foundation that will consequently benefit the community as a whole”.
